GENERAL

1. Where does the name ‘Fourmet’ come from?

‘Fourmet’ comes from combining our core two principles – Fitness and Gourmet.

Our founder Ketan believes that fitness can go hand in hand with gourmet food, without sacrificing its taste or quality. Learn more here about what inspired Ketan to start Fourmet.

2. Why do you sell your products online?

Fourmet is largely a food direct-to-consumer (DTC) company. At this time, we only sell our products online, except for a few perishable products. You can buy our products from the comfort of your own home/office.

We do not work with third-party services like Zomato or Swiggy yet.

We cherish our direct relationships with our customers, and we always prefer to talk to our customers directly.

Whether you want to tell us about a great experience you’ve had, or give us feedback about something disappointing, here is the best place to start. If for any reason you can’t find what you need there, you can always reach out to us here, and we’ll find the answers you need.

When it comes to third-party sellers, please know that there are no authorized online sales of Fourmet products. We only sell our products in our online store, so if you see Fourmet’s products for sale online, you’ll know right away that you’re not buying from us.

3. Do you sell your products offline? Do you offer curbside pickup or delivery?

At this time, we don’t sell any products (gift cards included) offline, only in our online store.

That being said, certain highly perishable products, such as milk-based mithai and Shrikhand, are available exclusively offline. Place your orders here.

We do offer curbside pickup or delivery, for orders in Pune. Local and hyperlocal deliveries are arranged via Dunzo, Porter, et al.

4. Does Fourmet provide franchising opportunities?

Unfortunately, no. Fourmet is a privately held company.

5. What’s next for Fourmet? Do you have any plans to expand into new categories?

We continue to innovate and explore ways of introducing more delicious, plant-based, dairy-free products.

We know that health is a key driver for our category, and we will continue to bring both improved nutrition and taste to continue the growth of plant-based products.

We are looking to keep consumers curious about plant-based options.

PRODUCT

1. How is it possible to have Mithai/Desserts without sugar?

We have an extensive, multi-step process for developing our recipes. We spend a lot of time with chefs and nutritionists to re-imagine mithai without sugar and various additives.

Our founder Ketan went through 6 attempts before finalizing the recipe for our bestselling Coconut Fat Bombs. Other recipes require more time and care before they are actually sold on our (online) shelves.

2. Are your products really sugar-free?

When we say our products are sugar-free, what we actually mean is that our products contain zero refined sugar.

We use zero-calorie sweeteners such as erythritol, xylitol, stevia, etc. for our Keto and Low-Carb product range. Check for the Keto or Low-Carb icon before you order.

For certain products, such as our Healthy Breakfast range, we use good quality coconut sugar as it has a lower glycemic index than your regular table sugar. We also use date syrup and black/unrefined jaggery in our products from time to time.

Check out the ingredient list on the product page to know what sweetener is being used.

3. What sort of ingredients do you use?

We use high-quality ingredients, locally sourced whenever possible.

Some of our core ingredients include:

  • Premium natural sweeteners
  • Amul Dairy products like Fresh Cream and Butter
  • Other local dairy products such as Milk, Ghee and Khoya
  • Finest sugar-free chocolate, made in-house
  • Cold-pressed oils from local mills
  • Fresh organic eggs

The finest ingredients and meticulous care go into the preparation of our products, reinforcing our tradition of gourmet and refinement.

4. Are your dairy and eggs pasteurized?

The dairy components are pasteurized during manufacturing since we use Amul dairy products. Other dairy products from local dairy farms are pasteurized when purchased.

The eggs, when used, get pasteurized during the baking process.

There are no raw dairy or eggs present whatsoever.

5. Are your products suitable for vegetarians?

At Fourmet, a vegetarian diet is defined as a largely plant-based diet, with certain animal-derived products, especially dairy and eggs. Check out this video to confirm what type of vegetarian are you.

Most of our products contain some form of dairy, and are suitable for vegetarians. Occasionally, a few products may contain honey, especially during the Christmas season.

Check for the Vegetarian icon before you order.

6. Are your products suitable for vegans?

At Fourmet, a vegan diet is defined as a completely plant-based diet, with no animal-derived products. These products include, but are not limited to —  milk and other dairy products, eggs, honey, gelatine, and cochineal.

Many products are suitable for vegans, especially our house-made Special Granola. We continue to innovate and explore ways of introducing more delicious, plant-based, dairy-free products.

Check for the Vegan icon before you order.

7.  Are your products suitable for diabetics?

All our Keto/Low-Carb desserts are suitable for diabetics. In fact, most of our products are designed keeping diabetics in mind.

That being said, don’t go overboard with these sugar-free treats, as they contain polyols. Learn more about the effect on polyols here.

Check for the Keto or Low-Carb icon before you order.

8. Do your products contain tree nuts?

All our products are made in a kitchen that handles tree nuts and tree nut ingredients.

Although measures are taken to avoid cross-contamination, we cannot possibly guarantee that any of our products are totally nut-free.

9. Do your products contain soy?

Although we do not use soy in our kitchen, we cannot guarantee our products are soy-free as there may be a presence of soy [especially soy lecithin] up the supply chain i.e. the chocolate.

10. Do your products contain peanuts?

All our products are made in a kitchen that handles peanuts and peanut ingredients.

Although measures are taken to avoid cross-contamination, we cannot possibly guarantee that any of our products are totally peanut-free.

11. Do your products contain wheat or gluten?

Although we do not use wheat or wheat-based products in our kitchen, we cannot guarantee our products are gluten-free as there may be a presence of gluten up the supply chain i.e. the chocolate, or oats.

12. How do you know your oils are cold-pressed? And what exactly do you mean by cold-pressed?

Cold-pressed means it has been mechanically pressed, which is usually done using a wooden or stone expeller. Cold-pressing largely retains the colour, aroma, taste, and nutrients of the oils.

This is in contrast to heat and/or chemical oil extraction i.e. the traditional, mass-produced and hydrogenated seed oils.

In the initial stages of recipe development, our founder visited the wooden oil mills personally to ensure that the oils are truly cold-pressed. Frequent visits from the procurement team also confirm this fact.

13. How long do your products stay fresh?

Depending on the product, products can stay fresh anywhere between 5 days max [Mithai] to 3 months max [Granola].

Always double-check the label instructions. With all of our Mithai, please refrigerate after opening and consume within 4-5 days of opening.

14. Does my product need to be refrigerated before opening?

Our products – Mithai, desserts, and other seasonal items – are perishable and must always be refrigerated.

However, our products packaged in jars (breakfast cereals and spreads) are shelf stable and can be left unrefrigerated before opening. For a longer shelf life, store our jarred products in the refrigerator.

Always double-check the label instructions. With all of our Mithai, please refrigerate after opening and consume within 4-5 days of opening.

15. How do I store my Fat Bombs?

Once you receive your order, set aside the number of Fat Bombs you wish to eat.

Store the Fat Bombs at room temperature in an airtight container, in a cool, dry place. Consume them within 3-4 days.

Store your airtight container in the fridge and the Fat Bombs will last for 3-4 weeks.

Wrap them in 2 layers of plastic wrap and store them in the freezer for 3 months.

16. How do I store my Cookies?

Once you receive your order, transfer the Cookies to an airtight jar/container. Why airtight containers? So that the Cookies do not get soggy on contact with air [they absorb moisture present in the air].

Store the cookies at room temperature in an airtight container, and consume them within one week.

Store your airtight container in the fridge and the cookies will last for 3-4 weeks.

Wrap them in 2 layers of plastic wrap and store them in the freezer for 3 months.

Don’t forget to warm the cookies in the oven – not the microwave – before you eat them.

17. How do I store my Brownies?

Once you receive your order, set aside the number of Brownies you wish to eat.

Transfer the remaining Brownies to an airtight container and stick them in the fridge. They last 3-4 weeks in the fridge.

Why airtight containers? So that the Brownies do not catch the strong odours from other foods in your fridge.

Wrap the Brownies in 2 layers of plastic wrap, followed by a layer of aluminium wrap and a plastic bag to freeze them. When wrapped this way, the Brownies last for 3-4 months in the freezer.

Thaw the frozen Brownies at room temperature overnight, and warm them in an oven – not the microwave – before you eat.

18. Why does Fourmet frequently discontinue products?

Our mission is to bring you the finest seasonal products, handcrafted by our talented chefs using the freshest seasonal produce.

To do this, we have to manage our kitchens well. Each of our products must "stand on its own," meaning it must pay its own way. Each product passes certain criteria in order to earn its way onto our (online) shelves – from a multi-step development process to a rigorous tasting panel.

There may be several factors that determine when/why we discontinue products:

It may be a seasonal product – for example, Paan Gulkand Laddoos, which are only available during Diwali. Or the boozy Christmas Cake available during – you guessed it – Christmas.

The costs of producing the products increase (change in commodity prices, new manufacturing requirements, etc.), and in turn, the price. If it no longer makes sense as a value, then we may discontinue it.

Because we introduce new products every month, we have to eliminate items that aren’t suited well to the season – whether it be climate, or festivals.

Change is the only constant. And changing products keeps things interesting.
